Formation of Moons

How moons are forming around gaseous planets and terrestrial planets can be understood with the help of supercomputer simulations. Moon-systems around gaseous giant planets, and around terrestrial planets form in a significantly different way. With the help of hydrodynamic simulations, N-body simulations and population synthesis we address how the moons formed in the Solar System, and what type of moons could exist around exoplanets.
